A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an urgent surgery. He answered the call asap, changed his clothes & went directly to the surgery block. He found the boy's father pacing in the hall waiting for the doctor. On seeing him, the dad yelled:
"Why did U take all this time to come? Don't U know that my son's life is in danger? Don't U have any sense of responsibility?"

The doctor smiled & said:
"I am sorry, I wasn't in the hospital & I came as fast as I could after receiving the call...... And now, I wish you'd calm down so that I can do my work"

"Calm down?! What if your son was in this room right now, would U calm down? If your own son dies now what will U do??" said the father angrily

The doctor smiled again & replied: "I will say what Job said in the Holy Book "From dust we came & to dust we return, blessed be the name of God". Doctors cannot prolong lives. Go & intercede for your son, we will do our best by God's grace"

"Giving advises when we're not concerned is so easy" Murmured the father.

The surgery took some hours after which the doctor went out happy,
"Thank goodness!, your son is saved!" And without waiting for the father's reply he carried on his way running. "If U have any question, ask the nurse!!"

"Why is he so arrogant? He couldn't wait some minutes so that I ask about my son's state" Commented the father when seeing the nurse minutes after the doctor left.

The nurse answered, tears coming down her face: "His son died yesterday in a road accident, he was in the burial when we called him for your son's surgery. And now that he saved your son's life, he left running to finish his son's burial."

This is a dramatic video (30-second, very short) about how to deal with a common kitchen fire oil in a frying pan. Read the following Introduction, then watch the show. It's a real eye-opener!!

At the Fire Fighting Training school they would demonstrate this with a deep fat fryer set on the fire field. An instructor would don a fire suit and using an 8 oz cup at the end of a 10-foot pole to toss water onto the grease fire.

The results got the attention of the students. The water, being heavier than oil, sinks to the bottom where it instantly becomes superheated. The explosive force of the steam blows the burning oil up and out. On the open field, it became a thirty foot high fireball that resembled a nuclear blast.

Inside the confines of a kitchen, the fire ball hits the ceiling and fills the entire room. Also, do not throw sugar or flour on a grease fire. One cup of either creates the explosive force of two sticks of dynamite.

The University of Michigan Extension recommends washing fresh produce under clean, running water prior to consuming, but adding vinegar to the mix may help kill even more bacteria. A study published in 2003 in the "Journal of Food Protection" found that washing apples with a vinegar-and-water solution reduced salmonella on the outer skin significantly more than washing with water alone. Jack Bishop, editor of "Cook's Illustrated," performed a similar experiment, and found that vinegar killed approximately 98 percent of bacteria on the surface of fresh fruits and vegetables.

For Smooth-Skinned Fruits and Vegetables

Step 1

Pour the white distilled vinegar into a spray bottle, and add 3 cups water. Secure the lid on the bottle, and shake well to combine the ingredients.

Step 2

Spray smooth-skinned vegetables and fruits, such as apples and tomatoes, with enough of the vinegar solution to cover the entire surface area, about five or six squirts. Rub gently with your hand to make sure the skin is coated thoroughly.

Step 3

Rinse the fruit or vegetable under cold running water, which removes the residual vinegar flavor. Rub with your hands to help remove every trace of vinegar, shake off the excess water, and pat dry with a clean towel before slicing.

For Leafy and Irregular Vegetables

Step 1

Pour the distilled vinegar into a large bowl or basin, and add 3 cups water. Stir gently with a large spoon or ladle to mix the liquids thoroughly.

Step 2

Separate the leaves of leafy vegetables, such as lettuce, spinach and turnip greens, and dip them in the vinegar solution. Remove from the bowl, rinse under cold running water, shake off excess, and pat dry before serving.

Step 3

Place irregular vegetables that have many crevices, such as cauliflower and broccoli, in the bowl of vinegar and water. Allow these vegetables to soak for at least two minutes before rinsing under cold, running water. Shake off excess water, and pat dry before cutting or serving.

Tips and Warnings

If your spray bottle isn't large enough to hold 4 cups of liquid, or if you need a larger amount of the mixture for cleaning large vegetables, use 1 part vinegar to every 3 parts water to make the cleaning solution. Wash hard-skinned fruits and vegetables, such as squash and melons, just as you would smooth-skinned fruits and vegetables, even if you don't eat the rind or skin. The University of Michigan warns that bacteria on the outer skin can be transferred to the inner flesh when cut.
Do not wash produce until just before you're ready to prepare and serve. If you wash fruits and vegetables before storing, they will spoil much faster.

THE BRICK

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street,
going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.

As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown.

The angry driver then jumped out of the
car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting,
'What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing?

That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?' The young boy was apologetic.

'Please, mister....please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the brick because no one else would stop...'

With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. 'It's my brother, 'he said 'He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up.'

Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, 'Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me.'.

Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh
scrapes and cuts.

A quick look told him everything was going to be okay. 'Thank you and may God bless you,' the grateful child told the stranger.

Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy! push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.

It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message:

'Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to
get your attention!' God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts.

Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or not.

Anatomy of a Moon Halo

The ring that appears around the moon arises from light passing through six-sided ice crystals high in the atmosphere. These ice crystals refract, or bend, light in the same manner that a camera lens bends light. The ring has a diameter of 22° , and sometimes, if you are lucky, it is also possible to detect a second ring, 44° diameter. Thin high cirrus clouds lofting at 20,000 feet or more contain tiny ice crystals that originate from the freezing of super cooled water droplets. These crystals behave like jewels refracting and reflecting in different directions.

Cloud crystals are varieties of hexagonal prisms, (6 sides) and range in shapes from long columns to thin plate-like shapes that have different face sizes.

Moon Light Effects

The moon can produce interesting optical effects when conditions are right. The most common of which are moon rings, moon bows, which are similar to rainbows, moon dogs and moon pillars. A rainbow is produced when sunlight is refracted through water droplets - A similar effect is produced when moon light refracts through ice crystals. Below are a few photographs and examples about this interesting phenomena. Thanks to everyone that helped me put together this simple explanation of moon light effects.

A Ring Around The Moon
The ring around the Moon is caused by the refraction of Moonlight (which of course is reflected sunlight) from ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. The shape of the ice crystals results in a focusing of the light into a ring. Since the ice crystals typically have the same shape, namely a hexagonal shape, the Moon ring is almost always the same size.

Less typical are the halos that may be produced by different angles in the crystals. They can create halos with an angle of 46 degrees.

Moon Ring Weather Folklore

Folklore has it that a ring around the moon signifies bad weather is coming, and in many cases this may be true. So how can rings around the moon be a predictor of weather to come? The ice crystals that cover the halo signify high altitude, thin cirrus clouds that normally precede a warm front by one or two days. Typically, a warm front will be associated with a low pressure system which is commonly referred to as a storm.

It is believed that the number of stars within a moon halo indicate the number days before bad weather will arrive. Give it a try the next time you observe a moon halo.

Its all started when I received a call from someone claiming that he was from Maxis and he asked me to shutdown my phone for 2 hours for 3g update to take place. As I was rushing for a meeting, I did not question and shutdown my cell phone.

After 45 minutes I felt very suspicious since the caller did not even introduce his name. I quickly turned on my cell phone and I received several calls from my family members and the others were from the number that had called me earlier - 3954380.

I called my parents and I was shocked that they sounded very worried asking me whether I am safe. My parents told me that they had received a call from someone claiming that they had me with them and asking for money to let me free. The call was so real and my parents even heard 'my voice' crying out loud asking for help. My parent was at the bank waiting for next call to proceed for money transfer. I told my parents that I am safe and asked them to lodge a police report.

Right after that I received another call from the guy asking me to shutdown my cell phone for another 1 hour which I refused to do and hung up. They keep calling my cell phone until the battery had run down. I myself lodged a police report and I was informed by the officer that there were many such scams reported. MOST of the cases reported that the victim had already transferred the money! And it is impossible to get back the money.

Be careful as this kind of scam might happened to any of us!!! Those guys are so professional and very convincing during calls. If you are asked to shut down your cell phone for updates by the service provider, ASK AROUND! Your family or friends might receive the same call.

I have personally encountered this – one morning at 9am, I was woke-up by the house phone. Nobody know the number except TM. Still in the sleeping mode, the moment I picked-up the phone, I heard Damian, my nephew’s crying voice begging me to help him. As I was about to question him, someone took over and demand that I pay-up the money that Damian owe them. I asked the caller if he got the right person; he said that he would send me part of his body as proof. He claimed that Damian owed him RM100K. It was then that I was really awake; I told myself impossible for a teenage of 17 years old (Form 5) owing that huge amount. I decided to play along and told the caller to give me time to raise the money. He agreed and said would call me back. I immediately called my mother who usually send the kids to school. I didn’t want to frighten her so I told her that I need her to accompany me to office. After picking her up, in the car I revealed everything and she said she witnessed Damian walking into the school compound. Upon reaching the school, we went straight to his classroom and he was there in the midst of his class. We had to interrupt the lesson and told the teacher of what we experienced. We then went to see his principal and proceed to lodge a police report. This is a must so that the police have the statistic in file. At the police station, we were told by the police that they have received several reports and are still investigating.

REMEMBER – Do not panic, keep calm and evaluate the situation.

Having lived a reasonably contented life, I was musing over what a person should strive for to achieve happiness. I drew up a list of a few essentials which I put forward for the readers' appraisal.


1. First and foremost is GOOD HEALTH.
If you do not enjoy good health you can never be happy. Any ailment, however trivial, will deduct from your happiness.


2. Second, A HEALTHY BANK BALANCE.
It need not run into crores but should be enough to provide for
creature comforts and something to spare for recreation, like
eating out, going to the pictures, traveling or going on holidays
on the hills or by the sea. Shortage of money can be only
demoralizing. Living on credit or borrowing is demeaning and
lowers one in one's own eyes.


3. Third, A HOME OF YOUR OWN.
Rented premises can never give you the snug feeling of a nest
which is yours for keeps that a home provides: if it has a garden
space, all the better. Plant your own trees and flowers, see them
grow and blossom, cultivate a sense of kinship with them.


4. Fourth, AN UNDERSTANDING COMPANION,
be it your spouse or a friend. If there are too many
misunderstandings, they will rob you of your peace of mind. It is
better to be divorced than to bicker all the time.


5. Fifth, LACK OF ENVY towards those who have done better than
you in life; risen higher, made more money, or earned more fame.
Envy can be very corroding; avoid comparing yourself with others.


6. Sixth, DO NOT ALLOW OTHER PEOPLE
to descend on you for gup-shup. By the time you get rid of
them, you will feel exhausted and poisoned by their
gossip-mongering.


7. Seventh, CULTIVATE SOME HOBBIES
which can bring you a sense of fulfillment, such as gardening,
reading, writing, painting, playing or listening to music. Going to
clubs or parties to get free drinks or to meet celebrities is
criminal waste of time.


8. Eighth, EVERY MORNING AND EVENING, DEVOTE 15 MINUTES to
INTROSPECTION. In the morning, 10 minutes should be spent on
stilling the mind and then five in listing things you have to do that
day. In the evening, five minutes to still the mind again, and ten
to go over what you had undertaken to do.


RICHNESS is not Earning More, Spending More Or Saving More, but ...
